Star Words Privacy Policy

Star Words is a Korean language learning platform. We are committed to collecting only the information needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Account information
If you create or use a Star Words account, we may collect information such as your email address, account identifier, and profile information you choose to provide. Authentication is currently handled using Amazon Cognito.
Learning and profile information
Star Words may store information needed to support your account and learning experience, such as profile data, lesson progress, preferences, or other learning-related information as features are developed.
AI support messages
If you use the Ask STAR support chat, the questions you submit are sent to our AI service provider so that a response can be generated. Please do not enter sensitive, confidential, financial, medical, or other highly personal information into the support chat.
Technical information
Our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process basic technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as IP address, request logs, browser information, timestamps, and similar operational data.
2. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- Provide and maintain Star Words features.
- Authenticate users and protect accounts.
- Store and retrieve learner profile or progress information.
- Respond to support questions.
- Improve site reliability, security, and learning experiences.
- Diagnose technical problems and prevent misuse.
3. Service Providers
Star Words currently uses third-party technology providers to operate parts of the service. These may include Amazon Web Services for hosting, authentication, APIs, and data storage, and OpenAI for AI-powered support responses.
These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy practices and only as needed to provide the applicable service.
4. Payments
Star Words is currently intended to be free for learners. We do not require learners to submit payment card information in order to use the learning platform.
5. Children's Privacy
Star Words is designed to support learners, including families and younger learners. We do not knowingly ask children to provide unnecessary personal information.
Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of online services and should not allow children to submit sensitive personal information through the AI support chat or other free-text fields.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect Star Words systems and user information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to limit access to information and use secure cloud services and authentication mechanisms.
7. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, maintain accounts, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or protect the security and integrity of Star Words.
